Cooler weather is still a great time for large catches Amberjack and grouper!
December is a great month to do some Deep Sea Fishing with FishTaxi Charters. In between the cold fronts, all of our gulf reef fish will be extra hungry and ready to bite. Any of the bigger structures like reefs, ledges and wrecks will be stacked up with grouper, key west snapper and amberjack. Starting off with frozen sardines and squid help get the fish biting when the water s colder. Once they start biting, switch to live bait to keep the feeding frenzy going.
Amberjack fishing during the winter months is better then any other time of the year. Bigger fish will move in and populate shallower wrecks and reefs. Big live bait like pinfish, grunts and squirrelfish are the baits of choice. Anchoring over the wreck and throwing a few freehand baits will trigger the bite. Full day trips are still required to reach the amberjack grounds but is well worth the ride.
